Another week passed on in total silence. The explanation for this is that I have been writing an examination paper.

The assignment came on Monday, and we had a week to write an analysis of a given play before tuning it in this morning. The three plays we could choose from were the three plays we have been working with in class were “The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark” by William Shakespeare, “The Wild Duck” by Henrik Ibsen, and “A Dream Play” by August Strindberg. Naturally, I was analysing “Hamlet”.

Leaving the place where papers are turned in, I had chunks of the refrain of a very specific song by a certain George Michael on repeat in my head;

Freedom!/I won’t let you down/Freedom!/I will not give you up/Freedom! (…)

Freedom!/I won’t let you down/Freedom!/So please don’t give me up/Freedom!/’Cause I would really, really love to stick around

Given, this was very much based on the rush of freedom that comes from handing in a paper, let alone it being an examination paper and an assignment that one has been working so intensely with over a week’s time.

What’s beautiful about this one – and the reason why I included the call-response-esque version of the refrain in the quote – is because I never felt that the subject of a paper or examination stayed with me the same way that “Hamlet” or Shakespeare has done this time around. As with all examined subjects, I will have to have at least a minor break from “Hamlet” before touching down on the matter again – but I’m far from done with Shakespeare and “Hamlet”.

All that being said – I can’t wait to get 2012 properly started on this blog with you guys!

Enjoy!

I forgot my iPod in Copenhagen (yup, the one on which I have both of my audio versions of “Hamlet”. I know: Brava). Given that I’m well driven by a consistant beat in my ears and that’s not what takes up the most space in my music library, I created a YouTube Playlist to work along to. The only regrettable thing about it is that Trentemøller’s remix of “What Else Is There” was taken down from YouTube; this is my ultimate working track. Then again, Pogo’s “Perthection” isn’t on Grooveshark. Luckily all of it is up for purchase and making full playlists on the computer! :)

Anyway. Lacking an iPod to be syncronized with iTunes (thus totaling up all the listens of all the tracks and creating the Top 25), what I did was take a look at the list and pick out the five videos on the list with the most views.
